Hand ice chopper with handle

A shovel pushes snow around; this tool breaks the ice underneath it. The working part is a single piece of steel rather than an assembly of plates, so you can chop hard at a frozen step without anything working loose.

It comes ready to use on a wooden handle. Wood stays warmer in the hand than a metal shaft in frost and takes some of the shock out of each strike.

One honest note: the steel is plain, not stainless. Wipe the blade dry after working on wet snow and hang it somewhere dry between winters, and it will last. We make these ourselves in Ukraine.
