Water heating element – arc, power – 5.0 kW

Choosing between arc and clip comes down to how deep the tank is. A single wide loop needs more room than a twice-folded clip of the same rating, but where the depth exists the 5.0 kW arc is the quickest way in this line to heat a large volume.

The tube is 10 mm stainless steel with a threaded fitting on each leg, 14 or 16 mm in diameter, spaced 60 mm centre to centre. Take the old element out and compare before ordering.

Five kilowatts draw a serious current, so make sure the cable and breaker are rated for it. Like any tubular element, this one runs under water only; in air it burns out before you notice.
