Immersion water heater – 1.25 kW

The one to pack for a hostel, a night shift or a long train ride. At 1.25 kW it boils a kettle or a couple of mugs without troubling the socket, and the 1.0 m two-core 2×0.5 cord is short enough to stay tidy in a bag.

Stainless steel on the working part means no rust and no taste in the water; hard water will leave scale in time, and a soak in vinegar clears it. Do not let the deposit build up — a coated coil runs hotter and fails sooner.

Water first, plug second, and unplug before lifting it out. Larger and smaller ratings are in the same family; this one sits towards the lighter end, for small amounts boiled often.
